Nissan will offer AEB standard on seven of Nissan’s best-selling vehicles including the Nissan Rogue, Altima and Murano. Automatic Emergency Braking helps to reduce the severity of frontal impacts. This technology measures the distance between your car and the vehicle ahead and automatically provides visual and auditory warnings in case of a potential collision. The system automatically applies the brakes in order to reduce speed if it senses an unavoidable collision.
AEB will come standard on the 2018 Nissan Rogue, Rogue Sport, Altima, Murano, Leaf, Pathfinder, Maxima and Sentra except for manual transmission vehicles, NISMO editions and select Armada models.
Experts have noted AEB to be one of the most significant safety features. As a result, Nissan is part of the first 20 auto manufacturers to take part in an agreement with the Transportation Department to provide automatic emergency braking a standard feature. Nissan is making AEB a standard feature four years before federal regulations will requite it to become a standard feature on all new vehicles.
Experts estimate that nearly 87% of deaths and injuries in rear-end collisions may be lessened or avoided if the vehicles were equipped with a collision avoidance system. The majority of rear-end collisions are attributed to driver inattention.
